Apple Oatmeal

1 cup old fashioned rolled oats

1 cup milk

1 cup water

½ cup raisins (I use 1/3 cup)

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 apple, peeled and chopped (I use ½ of a large apple; we prefer a green apple but any apple will do)

¼ teaspoon salt

cinnamon and sugar to add at the table

chopped walnuts, if desired

 

In a large glass bowl microwave all ingredients except cinnamon and sugar. Microwave on high, uncovered, for about 7-8 minutes, stirring at the end of every 2 minutes, or until thick and creamy. Let stand 1 minute, then sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.

 

Makes 2 large servings.
